Rich took us up the creek with our White Mountain Apache guide, Gregg Henry. We practiced rappelling and ascending next to a beautiful waterfall.

We learned how to rappel off of a human anchor, how to use a prussik hitch, how to create anchors such as knot chocks, girth hitch cams, and dead man anchors. If a slot for a knot chock is not facing the right way, maybe the sling can be wrapped around something till it faces the right way; and then it will have even more rock contact and friction. We rappelled off our anchors and practiced chimneying, stemming, and bridging.
