Six mile run from my friend's home in Redmond to the PSE Trail, taking it to the river and then back.
8 mile run from the house we're staying at in the Magnolia neighborhood of Seattle to Discovery Park (around the Loop Trail twice) and then down some neighborhood streets searching for views of Rainier and downtown.
Loop run to REI and back. The blank spot is where I forgot to restart the timer after a stop light. Total distance is 11.5 miles; I mistakenly took Emerson back instead of Dravus which would have been shorter, but now I've tried all three paths connecting Magnolia to the rest of Seattle!
First run around Green Lake. I ran to Stone Gardens, climbed with Craig Citro, then he drove me to the NW section of Green Lake. I ran most of the way around it and then home. 10.6 miles on a very hot day.
Run to the University of Washington and back, July 18, 2009. 12.8 miles running, plus 1-2 miles walking around campus.
UW run profile. The hills along Barrett and Dravus Streets are brutal with grades up to 20% in sections.
Run to Pike Place Market and back, July 24, 2009. This shows only the route there; the way back was slightly different. 10 miles roundtrip.
Footzone 5K, my first ever race. August 2, 2009 starting at 9am in Redmond, Washington. We ran two times around this figure-8 course plus a little extra. My official time was 21:56 (7:04 pace) but it was a gun start rather than chip start, so my time from the start line was 21:40 (6:58 pace) and if you accept my GPS distance (3.2 miles from start line to finish line) as correct then my pace was 6:46. The course was completely flat but it was hot (75 to 80 degrees or possibly hotter).
Crossing the finish line at the Footzone 5K. Still from video taken by Kyoko Leo.
August 22, 2009. Fantastic 16.4 mile run to the Palo Alto Baylands, Shoreline Park, and beyond, and then back. Between a warmup and a cooldown, I ran four 25 minute segments at increasingly fast "marathon paces": 8:23, 7:59, 7:38, 7:31.
August 29, 2009. Sankara iWalk 5k. My second race. Temperatures in the 80's. I apparently ran about 20:40 and finished about 3rd overall, but the official results aren't available yet.
