On Friday, April 2, 2010 Mike took off a day of work so we could go hiking together. Unfortunately this was the day a major storm hit, so it meant we'd be hiking in the rain, but that was appropriate as it had rained or snowed on me every day this trip. We decided to try a couple short hikes near the Columbia River Gorge. I first wanted to take Mike to Beacon Rock, which I'd done twice last summer. Since I already took pictures then in better weather, I only took this one to give a feel for the weather this time. We had the trail all to ourselves!
We then went across the street to the Hamilton Mountain trailhead, to see if we could hike up at least to see the two waterfalls. Surprisingly the weather improved a bit this hike and would get better later in the day, so maybe we left too early.
Here is Rodney Falls. The main part is higher up and a little hard to see in the photo.
Hardy Falls.
Just above the main falls.
That's as far as we went, and then we headed down. A great hike with a perfect Pacific Northwest feel to it.
I couldn't resist taking a photo of Mike's bike stand at the entraceway to his condo. Very cool, like an object of art. Unfortunately the picture doesn't capture the perfect lighting.
