This is the first time the seats have been removed since purchased in june of 2004. Not that dirty :)
Pioneer DEH-P400UB head unit. Not the Fanciest. Includes USB/Ipod connections. Provisions for HD/XM/Sirus radio. 4volt pre-out's for sub, front and rear speakers. The head unit does High/Low pass filtering with about 5 feq choices for each. This allow you to turn the filtering off on your amp and do everything in the head unit. No need for a cross over unless your that picky. This unit with out an external amp does very well by it self.
The tape is my mark for "can't go back any further then then this" with the amps
Yes, that seat belt metal hold down is that rusty. it's been sanded down and painted.
Coming next week are the dual Kicker Comp VR 10" dual voice coil subs + box. No more under seat storage.
A lot of time and went into adjusting exactly where these wires should run. The ground uses one of the bolt holes that the tire jack used to be held in place. I sanded the paint off, used a washer and a screw to hold the ground wire in place and painted over the top. The other two holes were replaced with just screws to close off the holes to the bottom of the truck
The door speaker wires are in place. I ran the wires to the head unit "area" and used the factory wiring from there to the doors. I did not feel it necessary to spend the time to re-wire each door. Using the Dodge stereo adapter I just splice the wires in to that and tied off the head unit's speaker wires. These wires ran up the left side there is plenty of room around the HAVC vents.
The RCA cables are now run. Not pictured here is the final placement of the "Extra" wire. I purchased 12' and possibly could of gotten around with 8, for sure 10. I wounded up folding the extra under the center under that "foot vents" Also, the Main power lead is in place.
The main power load comes in the typical hole under the clutch that you normally run gauge wires though. and follows on the inside and over following OEM wires.
Don't forget to run your "remote" wire for the amps. That's the blue one, it piggy backed along with one of hte RCA cables.
I was a tigh pain in the butt fit, but you cna fish these down to the right.
This is the Rockford fostage "power kit" I think it's called. For this level of stereo, it's sufficient. This includes a 100Amp fuse. It looks a little retarded with the fuse hanging out like that. ill be attaching it to the AFE air box I used hte secondary battery because my fuel pump and air tank pump + gauges are already run off of the main battery. Figured I work this one a little more (directly) Very similar to a "battery in the trunk" setup I had with my jeep. Also, I'll be covering the wires with black automotive shielding
RCA wires all "stuffed up" under the center console.
After several test fits, Ready to cut the carpet.
Pioneer GM-6300F. 4 channel amp. High/low pass filter is fixed. I run it "off" (using the head unit). I'll be installing some RCA 90degree angles for a cleaner install. Using RF distribution blocks for Supply and Ground wires. Decided that fusing the amps again, after the battery was a bit to much for this application
Sub Amp is a Kenwood PS400M mono amp. Back in 2000, this was the competition amp I used in my jeep. It should do just fine down to 1ohm @600watts RMS for the little 10" kickers. JUST enough lead wire for the Mono amp. :) The seats are coming out this week as soon as I track down some "good sized" speaker wire for the subs. (driver side under-seat)
Seats in. The 90degree RCA bends should get that hidden better. This is the passenger side "4 channel amp"
You can fully move the seat with out issue. Just when there is someone behind with the seat forward, they better keep their feet off of it!
The PS400M is a little wide. It's visible, the 90degree bends are necessary here. If this amp fails, a smaller in size is a requirement. I'll have one that can do 800watts RMS at 1ohm tho if I have to replace it. The subs are rated for 400/800peak
Fully move this seat with out conflict.
It's the wrong color. I might paint the carpet some day to match better. No Bolts, just sits there. Thus far had no issues. I suppose I can pull it fro "race day". It's about 100 pounds total weight with subs.
Once these got "broken in" a little. And I found some time to day to tune it in (bass mechanics CD rocks!) they do sound good. They hit as hard as my old Phoenix gold 12's did.
I managed to trim down some 8 gauge wire to fit in there. :)
Very well put together box. Lots of angles to git the dodge "cubby hole"
Picture of the front door speakers. They use the factory mount that clips around the speaker. Perfect install. The rears used 2 of the 3 screws to make them stay put. not all three holes lined up.
The sub box doesn't match the carpet perfectly. but it's rather hidden.
These grills really do their job. I'm only using 2 or 3 screens per since you generally don't wanna distrub the MDF again. Made of aluminum and rather sturdy.
This is what the grills are protecting. That's about a 3/4 inch indentation. The back half is fully covered while the front of the seat leave about I'd say 1/2 of the grill exposed to let the air move around. The fabric does jump around a little. The seats just "click" when down. so nothing is really putting any large amounts of pressure on the subs.
iPhone 3G :) w00t! I got a little car mount from Arkon research. This one has some super sticky 3M tape with a plastic disk, The the window mount sucks on to that. Perfect line of sight. The air vent is still free to move around. I plan on getting a bluetooth setup for the hands free since the speaker phone parts some complete blocked by the bottom part of the cradle.
The USB cable is coming out of the cigarette tray. The reason for this is if the passenger wishes to take the iphone in hand and leave it plugged in. Useful when the passenger is working the GPS. Opening up the tray there is a few more feet of cable tucked in. The second choice would be to cut a tiny hole with in the vent area and feed the cable though. Less wires dangling around and visable
This mount can be flipped around a number of ways. it can be higher and farther out. The button on the side of the cradle allows for quick removal. It's a very simple and effect system.
