This was taken at Qala, a landmark in Kulob, just before sunset. Usually the sky is clear at this time of day, but dust from Afghanistan had blown into town throughout the day, giving the atmosphere a red tint (this picture might not capture it fully).

Gulmorod (my co-worker) and his son Saymurod were kind enough to invite me to their home for my birthday. We ate osh and they gave me a traditional Tajik Toqi (skull cap) commemorating Kulob's 2,700 anniversary.
