Penny Leftwich and NJ Gov. James McGreevey
Levira "Penny" Leftwich has been an advocate for the frail elderly in New Jersey, for many years. A native Trentonian and public employee for thirty years, Mrs. Leftwich brought her knowledge, skills and compassion into her community. She offered her time, expertise and energies and vision as a planner when she began working on the development of Interfaith Caregivers Trenton/Faith In Action in 1993.
She worked with the Executive Director to start a volunteer organization within Mercer County to serve homebound elderly and disabled people who needed in-home support. As a result of collation with the Trenton Ecumenical Area Ministry and many hours of hard work, Interfaith Caregivers Trenton/Faith In Action was established and incorporated as a non-profit organization with a $25,000 seed grant from the Robe
