the pre-ride train ride... definitely THE way to travel

the ride actually started out flat (this is a first)
our "warm-up" climb was soooo beautiful
they definitely got the castle-theme going on here :)

starting the climb up to Malbun... we had no idea what we were in for
a rest stop with a view, how nice
we are spoiled by having these drink-water troughs everywhere we ride
24%?? bring it on!!
after some mountain biking (well, trying) and rock climbing, a girl's legs don't look so girl-ish
not fair - his legs look prettier than mine!
the last bit of the climb was reeeeally steep and just kept going and going and going...
but we finally made it!
celebration was in order - "Fitness plates" for the guys, brats and fries for the gal
we used to just eat bars and gels during rides... now it's poulet schnitzel and salad
Malbun seems like a small ski resort, but in a beautiful location
enjoying the view on the way down
rounding out the ride with a flat cool-down by the Rhine River
recovery carbs!
