The old Stone Hut once upon a time was the heart of a goat farm. A couple or more decades ago a woman was living in the hut illegally - the hut belonging to the USFS and they not having given her permission to live there...
They gave her notice to leave - several times. Not wishing her real harm, the USFS guys kept an eye out for her to leave...
One day she went into town for mail or groceries or who knows what. The USFS guys removed all her possessions to the yard and burnt the hut so that from then on - no one would be inclined to move on in.
Nick Clark (CO) now on his second visit to the Stone Hut station. Nick would finish the day in first place, setting a new course record in his first Ghost Town.

And then came Andy Jones-Wilkins (ID). He and Pete Stevenson swapped 2nd and 3rd throughout the day, but the veteran AJW would prevail in 2nd by the end of their miles.
Jason Taylor (NM) in his first ultra ever would finish 5th overall. There is now an award named for him for that ultra-newbie who finishes first at GT 2011.
