Hardrock 2010

Now 15-for-15 at Hardrock! Not a real fast time for me - 38:58 - but a satisfying run over a beautiful day-and-a-half. We had 100 finishers (I was 50th) out of 140 starters. I was paced for 33 miles by my daughter Heather and for the first time by my wife Rebecca Clark over the final nine miles. Most of the aid station photos are by Heather Wood.

Hardrock 2009

I collected my 14th finish in 37:53, an average time for me. But I felt better afterward than in any other hundred I've run! We had a record 105 finishers out of 140 starters.

Hardrock 2008

I finished in 37:29, placing 26th of 98 finishers and 141 starters. I ran a really good 80 miles, then the wheels fell off. This was my 13th finish. I was paced by my daughters Heather and Margaret, Allen and Kyle Pittman, and Ryan McNiff. All photos are by myself or Heather or Margaret Wood, except as noted.

Hardrock 2007

I finished in 35:46 - my fastest time in the clockwise direction! 30th place out of 97 finishers and 134 starters. I was paced by daughters Heather and Margaret, Ryan McNiff, and Simon Gilna. This was my 12th finish.

Hardrock 2006

I finished in 40:53, 35th of 81 finishers and 131 starters. I got sick and couldn't hold down any food in the last 50 miles. I was paced by daughter Heather, Andy Gisler, Ryan McNiff, and Tom Stockton. This was my 11th finish.

I finished in 37:44, 25th of 71 finishers and 125 starters. I was paced by Loren Wohletz, Rob Hipwood, Tom Stockton, and my daughter Heather. This was my 10th finish.

Hardrock 1999

My fifth finish at Hardrock, and by far my best - I won and set a new course record of 30:10. I was paced by Igor Pesenson from Ouray to Grouse and from Cunningham to the finish. Some of these photos are by John Cappis and Tim Neckar.

Hardrock 1996

My second Hardrock, after the run was cancelled due to excessive snowcover in 1995. I went into this run undertrained, but took it out fast nevertheless, and paid the price - crash and burn at Ouray. But I finished in 41:11, 16th of 37 finishers and 82 starters, with Dave Scudder pacing me from Ouray to Chapman, and my Dad pacing me into the finish from Chapman. Some of these photos were taken by Charlie Thorn and John Cappis.
