Infrared scanning of travelers. This poor guy was very embarrassed when he saw me taking a picture of him.
HK recycles! ^__^
It's like the T! ^__^ (And not like NY's subway, thankfully.)
They wrote "lift"! ^______^
Lots of people wear face masks. I'm not sure if it's to make themselves feel safer, or the tourists.
My favorite part about HK: merchandise that makes no sense.
Hey, it's Felix goh!
It was very hot that day.
I took a picture of this because the transliteration is VERY "Taishanese," where my roots are. I can pronounce this for you if you ask. :)
Like in Taiwan, 7 Elevens are very common and popular. We seriously saw them on every other street corner.
In Yaumatei
"Uhh, that's not a massage..." -My dad (It translates as "one night stand," actually.)
Martial arts on an adidas advert. How appropriate. :)
Can you spot the bird of prey? You will have to use the magnifying glass.
And there it is! :)
Rundown buildings
Pretty clouds :)
I go to Stanford.
Gigantic advert.
HP la!
You have to trust me on this one that it's gigantic. Fomes fomentarius, a bracket fungus often named horse's hoof fungus or tinder fungus.
"Lingzhi, a herb like ginseng. These are the wild ones, not the farmed ones. This has absorbed the essence of heaven and earth." -My dad's explanation of the sign
The power of bamboo
My mom at a VERY bad angle.
Around Stanley Center.
A popular tourist area.
Bird of prey! ^____^
Look at that...
I've taken a ridiculous number of pictures of these trees. I think they're awesome.
(L to R) Mom, Jeffrey, Uncle Anthony. (My dad in his patterned shirt is behind UA).
Ficus elastica, India Rubber Tree
(L to H) Uncle Herman, Mom, Dad, Uncle Anthony, Jeffrey
Take a look at the first sign. I think it's funny.
Stanley Market
Long live Chairman Mao! (literally: "May Chairman Mao live 10,000 years!")
I just thought it was funny because the U.S. uses the onomatopoeic "flip-flops."
Jeffrey: "NO! Don't take a picture of the trash!"
Jeffrey and my mom.
The old friends. Dad, Uncle Herman, and Uncle Anthony.
Palms!
Things you don't see in NYC.
Two things to notice.
Flowers. :)
Wait, what counts as a foreign object?
Thanks for letting me know...?
My mom thought this was cool.
Some conifer?
Bustling Stanley Market.
Some models were being photographed in the area.
Photoshoot.
In HK, "hawking" is what we more commonly call "street vending" in the U.S.
I thought this was a very pretty picture. If only my camera captured this when I went on the ferry.
I'm pretty sure I wasn't supposed to take a picture of this, though.
Maybe the pigu can tell me what this is a picture of.
Wow! ^_____^
Sometimes Starbucks crossed with Bubble Tea is a bad idea.
One of many skyscrapers.
Sorry, I took so many pictures of this building, but it's because I wasn't sure which ones would come out clearly.
Evisceration is a method of autotomy involving the ejection of internal organs used by animals as a defensive strategy. Sea cucumbers (Holothuroidea), eject parts of the gut in order to scare predators. The gut can then be regenerated in a few days by cells in the interior of the sea cucumber.
