SD Wild Animal Park 062708
On Friday, June 27th, I got up early and drove from Bishop to Escondido, CA, which is a little north of San Diego. I drove down Hwy 395, and the views of the eastern Sierras were incredible. When I got near Mt. Whitney, I definitely felt the pull of the mountain, and stopped to snap a picture. Then I headed straight to the Wild Animal Park, which I had wanted to visit for several years now, basically just to see the cheetahs. It was a beautiful day, and not only did I get to see the cheetahs, I arrived just in time to see the "trainer talk" with the cheetahs and was right up front and center, as you can tell from my pics. I was so wiped out from a couple long, hard days of workouts that I totally crashed around 4 pm. I found a bench in a little wooded area with a stream next to it and laid down and slept for an hour! Because it was in the botanical gardens section of the park, no one at all was there, and I slept unmolested. So awesome.
