Eleven of us spent a week doing mission work at the Henderson Settlement campus of the Red Bird Missionary Colnference in one of the poorest counties in the United States. We were touched by the needs of the people but even more by the warmth and generosity of both the staff and the people they serve.

We joined with other congregations in the Detroit area to provide inventory and assistance with a store where the residents of the Cass shelters could purchase Christmas gifts for their children, paying a nominal amount for the gifts for each child.
