Re-Cycled Time
Re-Cycled Time is a line of custom jewelry to create purposive jewelry from discarded items. Harnessing one of Portland’s most recognizable symbols I chose to incorporate used bicycle tubes into my work. I wanted to add an industrial/mechanical element to each piece. With reclaimed items on the mind I turned to old clocks and watches to find an abundant array of useful findings. The inner workings of clocks are made of brass wheels and steel springs that reveal their hidden beauty when dismantled. While still using some finer metals, such as sterling silver, I am able to create distinctive recycled pieces of art jewelry that appeal to people from all walks of life.
