Castillo de Santa Barbara, Alicante
Castillo de Santa Barbara sits high above the city upon a cliff, on Benacantil Mountain, at 166m above the sea level. It comes from the end of IX century (when Spain was under muslims domination). The name was taken from the day of Santa Barbara (4 December 1248). The castle got back from muslims by Alfonso de Castilla, the future king Alfonso X el Sabio.
To get at the top, you need to walk 20minutes, which isn't so easy when the sun is shining and there is 30'C! But the views are incredible!!! Amazing views on Costa Blanca, beach and marina in Alicante, on city as well. There are different plants, which makes a beautiful composision with stone walls and buildings. There is big hall - venue, which is used for various celebretions, weedings, company meetings, etc... I'll be fun to have a weeding there! :D
Check the castle during the night, with all spotlights. Te gusta? :)
