Tekoa Classic-Camelot Dedication 8-07

The annual Tekoa Classic showcased the Tekoa youth and their horsemanship skills. Following the showcase, Tekoa youth, staff, and friends joined for a tree planting ceremony to honor Tekoa and CHP's past and celebrating Tekoa's future with Camelot.

Lowe's Heroes Fence Project 8-07

Twenty-four Lowe's employees volunteered for two days to tear down the old fence surrounding the barn area for the horses and replace with new fencing.

Yorktown Square II Dedication

One of the three multifamily pilot projects for EarthCraft Virginia, Yorktown Square II is a 60 unit garden-style renovation in Yorktown, VA. Residents will enjoy various upgrades including extensive air sealing, new windows, new heating and cooling systems, increased insulation along with a laundry center and community meeting area. Partners include: Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta, EarthCraft Virginia, VHDA, DHCD, VCDC.

During National NeighborWorks Week June 2-9, CHP staff and residents volunteered to create a community garden at Sandston Plateau, a 100-unit elderly community in Sandston, VA.

During National NeighborWorks Week June 2-9, CHP staff volunteered with Beans and Rice, Inc. to restore Mountain View Cemetery, an historically black cemetery that has fallen into disrepair.

NW Week - Ada Vest Home Project

During National NeighborWorks Week June 2-9, CHP staff and Christiansburg Home Depot employees re-painted Ms. Ada Vest's (an EHR client) kitchen and living room, cleaned mold off the exterior of the house, built a new well platform and removed debris from the house.

Hometown Healing Project

Following the Virginia Tech tragedy, CHP residents teamed up with VTServes, a service-learning group of students at Virginia Tech. They planted Hokie-colored flowers in gardens at both properties as a living memorial.

SLEC Straw Bale Project

CHP Energy Services staff provided free resources, labor and materials to complete the straw bale project at the SLEC Center. The straw bale project is a 400 square foot post and beam construction with bales as infill to promote green and alternative building and design.
