Getting ready, just before 9am. There were cars everywhere... I've never seen so many people on Mt. Hamilton on New Year's Day before.
Kevin, our most-regular of Tuesday/Thursday-morning ride regulars, showed up with a good chunk of tube bulging out of a hole in the side of his tire. Fortunately I had a spare tire with me.
Starting up the hill. Far right is Jeff, red rider to the left of him is another Jeff, and behind a group that includes Kevin, Karl & Karen. Don't know who the guy on the green bike at the front is.
A bit of overcast on parts of the climb. Temps ran from about 46 to 55 degrees. Good climbing weather.
Mike M on the left, Janet (sticking her tongue out) in the middle, and Dick on the right. For Dick & Janet, this was their 1st Wedding Anniversary ride; they were married at Grant Ranch.
There are bikes that make hill climbing easy, and bikes that make it harder than it need be. The guy on the mountain bike is definitely in for a harder climb than the rest of us.
