Invisible Force Catalyst Award

The Corporate Volunteerism Council – Twin Cities (CVC-TC) received the Invisible Force Catalyst recognition award for their work on engaging individuals 50+ and skilled volunteers, specifically with corporate retiree programs. The Invisible Force Catalyst recognition is given annually to individuals, nonprofits, corporations, academic institutions and government organizations that put significant resources and passion into strengthening the new paradigm in volunteerism that encourages active participation for individuals who are 50+. The Invisible Force acknowledges the leadership the recipients have taken by modeling best practices in engaging volunteers 50+ and also acknowledges the fortitude they must have as they continue. The award was presented at the 3rd Annual Forum on Boomers and Civic Engagement on May 18, 2010 at Century College.

Gibbs Museum 05.14.10

The Gibbs Museum of Pioneer & Dakotah Life, located near the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota, was host to CVC-TC’s 3rd annual volunteer event on Friday, May 14th. Eighteen member companies and nonprofits sent representatives to Gibbs Museum to volunteer for the afternoon. Volunteers worked on a variety of tasks, including scraping/painting porch chairs; cleaning out brush on the property; installing pasture gates; and preparing candle making set-ups for youth groups who visit the museum during the spring and summer. Terry Swanson, Volunteer Director at Gibbs Museum, said that the impact made in one afternoon by the CVC-TC was equal to a full month of work, if the Gibbs staff were asked to complete the above mentioned tasks on their own. CVC-TC volunteers were enthusiastic and hard-working. They were also treated to homemade ice cream made on site at Gibbs Museum at the end of the event.

CVC Volunteer Event 09.18.09

Seventy-nine volunteers from twenty Corporate Volunteerism Council-Twin Cities (CVC-TC) corporate and nonprofit member organizations beautified Farnsworth Aerospace 5-8 in Saint Paul by creating outdoor learning spaces and indoor murals on Sept. 18, 2009. The volunteers planted seventy plants and bushes, painted four murals to hang in the school, painted eight sets of playground line games, dispersed six yards of mulch, made six mosaic stepping stones and installed a bike rack that can hold eleven bikes. These companies and nonprofit agencies share in a spirit of collaboration and support making a difference in the Twin Cities community.

CVC Luncheon 4.9.09

The Corporate Volunteerism Council Twin Cities (CVC-TC) is proud to honor Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota and Cummins Power Generation for their outstanding corporate volunteer programs with the presentation of CVC-TC’s annual Employee Engagement and Community Partner Awards. The awards were presented at the Corporate Volunteerism Council Twin Cities’ awards luncheon on Thursday, April 9, at the Midland Hills Country Club in St. Paul. The theme of the luncheon was the “The Power of Green” and Jason DeRusha, WCCO-TV news reporter and blogger, emceed the event. Keynote speaker, Eliza Clark, a LEED Accredited Professional at Paydirt, presented on how sustainability can engender increased employee volunteerism and improve retention.
