The visit began with an engaging slideshow presentation on lightning, tornadoes, and hurricanes by COAPS Assistant State Climatologist Melissa Griffin.
Participants made their own thermometers with water, rubbing alcohol, food coloring, a plastic bottle, a straw, and modeling clay.
Testing the thermometers out in 95+ degree heat worked well!
Simulating clouds and rainfall with cotton balls.
Participants counted how many drops of water it took to make their clouds rain (100-175!)
