Bucerius School Mar.31 Wind-up

At the conclusion of our final session with the children we had a fiesta with games, food, recognition of progress and lots of hugs. After 3 sessions of 6 weeks we came to know many new students. Many returned for all three sessions. We are so proud of their progress and grateful for the opporutnity to work with them.

Pan a Vida

Like the tiny vegetable seedlings the children are growing in plastic pop bottles on the roof of a special mission in Jalisco, Mexico, children and families are blossoming through the efforts of caring volunteers at the Bread of Life/Pan De Vida outreach center.

Some of our Students

At BBCC we have the joy of teaching beautiful Mexican children English. We are so proud of their interest in learning, as each of these children attends public school in the day and then comes to BBCC to learn a new language. These are children from Reta and Linda's English classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Schools Tour

One of the goals of BBCC is to network and offer outreach to Mexican schools in our area that are in need of resources or assistance in promoting English instruction for their students. On Friday, six of us visited three rural schools north of Bucerias. The first was a one room school with children from 4 through 12; the second a kindergarten with 24 students ages four and five; and the last a larger school with three classrooms and students ranging from 5-12. At the first school, the teacher was an amazing young man of 18 whose dedication to his students and focus in setting personal goals was remarkable. The kindergarten teacher was a young woman of 19. Both of these teachers are part of a program in which they are offered three years of university tuition for each year they teach. Yes, this means they must teach before they are able to attend university. What a challenge!
