Hong Kong Legislative Council Election Sep 2008
I arrived Hong Kong on August 31 and started my eight-day observation of the campaigns for legislative election on September 7. Meanwhile, I worked for a campaign team as a canvass volunteer. The main topics in Hong Kong Legco Election are: first, the electoral system as a combination of functional constituencies and geographical constituencies under a proportional representation system; second, the Hong Kong style of campaign strategies compared to that of the US and Taiwan in the same election year; third, the confrontation between Pan-democracy Camp and Pro-Beijing Camp (since the Hong Kong Island by-election 2007) in the year of 2008 when Beijing has gained greater influences.
