The Junior Master Gardener kids are all home schooled kids that take this course as part of outside the home education and to provide interaction with other kids their own age.
The classes are given at classrooms and grounds of the Museum of Discovery and Science, downtown Fort Lauderdale, Florida. These kids are all home schooled kids who belong to the American Prints 4H Club. Master Gardeners do most of the teaching and supervise the yard work of these 4-H Jr. Master Gardeners.

One of my own projects was developing a "rain barrel" PowerPoint and "Flip n Show" for outdoor presentation. Ann & I "spread the word" at garden clubs, and "green" events in Broward County Florida. Ann & I have made over 50 of these presentations.
Occasionally these presentations are picked up by local newspapers.
Here we helped the "Friends of Anne Kolb Natural Area" make rain barrels which they sold to buy items the park needs but are not budgeted for. As a Master Gardener you can create your own volunteer programs.

The area is helped by removal of the exotic invasive plants and the kids earn community service hours. There are many natural area's in our county from the beach, coastal marshes, to many inland parks-natural areas needing constant attention to keep them clean & "natural" Pitch in and help out whenever you can.

Broward County Butterfly Chapter of N.A.B.A. aka The Butterfly Club. Shown here some of us on a butterfly count at Long Key. These counts are conducted three times a year in South Florida. Butterflies are a good indicator of problems with our environment. Counting, reporting, and monitoring these counts lets us know if problems are developing.
