We started out in "Little France". I think cities purposely chain old bikes in strategically placed spots for added charm.
This is someone's beautiful balcony
A view of the canal and sluice.
The Alsatian museeum in Little France. We just took the photo from the boat and did not go in.

I love the reflection of the half-timber house in this window.
The most photographed building in Strasbourg.
Old meets new - part of the Terrasse Panoramique.
I think this is Saint Jean
Romance is definitely in the air in Strasbourg.
I assume it's a homeless person who pitched a tent near one of the canal bridges.

Gruber hotel and restaurant near the cathedral in a busy part of town.
This silver-clad artiste was standing in front of the cathedral next to another gold-clad version of herself.
The cathedral is so huge it's difficult to capture the facade. Here is B's attempt...
...and here is my attempt to take a picture of the front of the cathedral. It actually has the wamer tones.
Detail of the cathedral door.
Inside the cathedral
The astronomical clock inside the cathedral. It was used to bridge people's understanding of the Earth being round at a time when people still thought it was flat.
Detail of the astronomical clock.
Another detail.
To the left of this figure, a list of all the saints days.
This little angel at the top of the astronomical clock is holding an hour glass
Restoration of the stained glass windows takes place ever 10 years. This must be a secure job.
Gruesome detail at the base of the crucifix.
Yes, we climbed all 66 meters up the cathedral tower. As we reached the top of the tower, we could look through the spire openings. It is said that Goethe tried to conquer his fear of heights this way.
The reward - from the top of the cathedral looking over Strasbourg
Woldemar de Baggowouth - one of many contributors honored on the walls of the cathedral tower. Sounds like a character out of the Lord of the Rings.
A very old house near the cathedral.
Another view of the cathedral from the food festival down below.
View of one of the canals.
We enjoyed listening to reggae-type music by this percussionist band at the food festival whose instruments consisted of kitchen related items.
Bike brand in Germany at the rest stop on the way to Strasbourg. I keep reading signs and advertising in either German or English but not in both languages. I like the funny English version of this one. Not sure you'll get up the mountain very quickly with this one. Note the umbrella.
