"Yeah yours is definitely a different species than mine, try googling "Clastoptera nymph" or just "Clastoptera" to see if those match the adults you're seeing. The nymphs are bicolored like this and the adults are definitely beetle-like. As for biological control of this species though, I'm afraid I don't really have any solutions. The aphids are easy enough to control anyway."

"Hey +Chris Mallory! I read it, but i thought these might be different because they looked more like little beetles than hoppers when I removed the spittle. I'm in denial I guess, because I usually love hoppers! And these guys are all over my dad's garden, and in combination with lots of aphids, his plants aren't doing very well. I was thinking about buying some ladybugs for the aphids, but do you know what kind of predator could help keep these in check? Thanks for dropping by!"

"I agree +Lisa Ford; the first time I saw them, I couldn't believe my eyes (and luck!) :)"

"Thanks so much +Chris Mallory! I do increase the saturation and sharpness a bit; as I can't use auto focus/white balance when the macro lens is on my phone's camera, so it kind of washes some of the color and detail out if the light conditions change."

"Great find, this is a somewhat rare one I think. Must be a Neocoelidia sp. (black dot on nose points to this genus) but no idea of the species, this one has much bolder red markings than I've ever seen before."
