Grand Canyon and Zion National Park with Mindy
Mindy and I took off to the Grand Canyon and Zion National Park for the weekend. On Friday I busted out a rim-rim-rim (42 miles, 12,000 ft of gain) in almost exactly 9 hrs, slightly better than my time from last year. Physically I didn't have a great run, but it was beautiful as ever. ~60F on the S. Rim, around 90F at the bottom, and incredibly cold and snowy on the North Rim. Mindy did the S. Kaibab to Phantom Ranch and back with virtually no training at all. Pretty impresive! Then, Saturday we drove to Zion and took it easy. We hooked up with Ryan Kunz for a brief hot-tub session and quickly said hi to his wife Vicki. Sunday morning we met up with Matt, Britta, Martha, Raleigh, and Jack. Then on the shuttle into the park we noticed Jim and Carol at the history museum and hopped off for a brief chat. Then, back on the shuttle into the park where I got to run Observation Point, followed by Angels Landing and met Mindy after she did Observation Point. Good times.
