As the name stands,the temple is gigantic.It is said that Raja Raja Cholan was influenced by the Gigantic Buddha statues(while in Srilanka) and hence built the Big Temple.
While going to this temple,get a binocular and look for a closer view of many sculptors.One would be really amazed by the workmanship of the sculptor.
You don't need to be an expert in archeology or architecture to enjoy theses sculptors.A curious mind is enough.
The temple was built mostly with hard granite stones.
There are many birds present in the temple.One such called as Indian Tawny Eagle
