We've got to make the underpasses / overpasses safer! That's a very young cyclist cycling across a long exposed conflict area.
Northshore at the QEW underpass. Dangerous at both ends! Do cyclists stay in the curb lane which is a right turn only lane, or do they move to the centre through traffic lane?
Biker congestion at the LB. Since the view is partly obscured, its a good thing there are no trucks in the right hand lane. These are also experienced cyclists & they don't know what to do - cycle the road or get off & use the narrow bay side walk.
Let's hope the cars follow MTO rules & give these cyclists the lane they are entitled to!
So many cross Eastport Drive at the Liftbridge!
Not only are these cyclists on the road, they are on the wrong side of the road. As a motorist, how would you feel driving towards them?
Eastport Drive at the Liftbridge.
Not an uncommon sight at the liftbridge. Notice the DO NOT CROSS sign instructing people NOT to cross where they are crossing!
Liftbridge sidewalk, Hamilton side. You gain a lot of speed going down this narrow walk with trucks racing besides you.
Yes, there is a safer path under the bridge - so why doesn't everyone use it?
Guelph Line / QEW overpass looking towards the lake. The cyclist going uphill crosses a very long exposed conflict area.
Guelph Line at the QEW overpass, looking north. Then the cyclist must decide whether to use the curb lane (right exit only) or cycle on the fast through lane,
Walkers Line before the overpass. Did you notice the nearly invisible bike lane?
same picture but with a coloured bike lane. Looks a lot better with a coloured bike lane and studies show that motorist feel more comfortable & slow down as well.
