Dinner?
A vista of Fez
Interesting collections of the staff
The medresa (school) shows you how they would indicate the date on a house. The date is in the Muslim calander in the middle of all the calligraphy.
The tiles here go with the big shot of the medresa with the calligraphy and date. This is some detail down on the sides of the doorframe. It is very fine old school zelij. Zelij is tile which is fired, glazed, and then cut into pieces which are fit together into various designs. It's a very old craft and stuff of this quality (you can tell by the symmetry, the intricacy of the design, and how close they fit together). Traditional colors are black, green, blue, and yellow.

The medluk wall detail is the original lime and sand finish on the old walls in the medina. It gets a marbled finish over time. The wood is also original, it is the base to the door frame with the spiderwebs on it.
up the hills of the Medina fully loaded
The old zelej is taken with no flash in very low light (obviously) in a house being restored. These are the original tiles in the old kitchen with years of smoke damage. They will eventually be cleaned and restored.
the ,very deep, well
The lime curing is in a house being restored using traditional materials (lime, fine sand, brick) The lime lets the walls "breathe" and minimizes water damage unlike concrete.

The Berber tent post is a detail shot of a large antique post in someone's house. It was sort of a large T-shaped post that went inside the tent to hold it up.
The spiderwed pic is of a restored cedar doorframe in the medina which leads to an old Koranic school.
The restored door goes with the photo of the wooden door detail. It's a cedar door which may or may not have been painted originally. The owner likes the plain wood.
