Istanbul, TURKEY: US Richard Falk, one of the coordinators of the organization gives the opening speech of the World Tribunal on Iraq`s Istanbul session, 24 July 2005, held in historical Darphane-i Amire building in Topkapi Palace. The World Tribunal on Iraq (WTI), a grouping of NGO`s and intellectuals opposed to the war in Iraq, was to begin its final session in Istanbul on Thursday. Falk said "The world Tribunal on Iraq has been convened to bring international law to bear on America's aggressive behaviour around the world, with particular emphasis on the Iraq war". The accused, the member countries of the coalition, notably the US and Britain, were invited to present their defence but had not responded, according to the WTI statement.
