Der teuerste und erfolgreichste Film der Hollywood-Geschichte ist am Montag abend (23.03.1998) in Los Angeles insgesamt elfmal mit der begehrtesten Trophäe des Filmgeschäfts ausgezeichnet und zur besten Produktion des Jahres gekrönt worden. Das monumentale Katastrophen-Melodram von James Cameron hat damit zwar keinen neuen Rekord aufgestellt, konnte aber mit dem bisher erfolgreichsten «Oscar»-Film «Ben Hur» aus dem Jahr 1959 gleichziehen. Die Britin Kate Winslet ging leer aus im Wettbewerb um die beste Hauptdarstellerin. Den "Oscar" erhielt Helen Hunt für "Besser geht's nicht". dpa COLORplus
