Hong Kong - Street Sleepers Party
Over the years, long-time missionary Carol Halter has befriended, visited, and showed love to many of Hong Kong's homeless people (or 'street sleepers') and every year, she throws a party for them! This year, the venue was Concordia Lutheran School, one of the LCHKS (Lutheran Church - Hong Kong Synod) schools. A large group of volunteers from several churches around Hong Kong showed up to help out, which was great because over 50 street sleepers showed up for the party!
Each of these special guests was given a big bag full of candies and snacks, an even bigger bag full of clothes (which they picked out themselves), a new sweat suit, and a delicious meal. In addition to caring for some physical needs, the event also provided some spiritual nourishment, in the form of Christmas songs and a Cantonese worship service.
