Now these were breath taking waters. The Greek islands were truly amazing.
From here I thought these were snow capped hills. I had no idea these were houses.
Santorini was formed when part of a volcano collapsed into the ocean. It is now a crescent shape land mass.
The rocks walls were eaten away over time in odd patterns.
Te grape vines did not not grow on trellises but instead sprawled out on the ground.
We were taken to the top peek of the island. The view was perfect.
Our huge tour bus had to drive up this road then do a u-turn to head back down. The front part of the buss actually went over the edge of the road.
So many little white houses so far down below.
The far houses and town are we will have lunch later that day.
We don't know what type of seed this is.
It was going to be a long walk up the narrow streets.
Cool old doors
and more doors
yes, even more doors
And doors leading to a courtyard.
ok, ok, one more door but look at the nice metalwork.
This tiny church was open for us to explore. Outside was a man selling home made wine and another with a donkey you could have your picture taken with.
This was our tour guide.
An odd looking table that looked to be made from a branch.

Inside the restaurant.
Getting into the city area
Water was scarce so cars were not always washed.
So pretty.
It was very relaxing to walk around and enjoy the views.
There were many tiered buildings. Also some buildings were dug into the cliffs.
An odd art store with a shark sticking out.
Our ship waiting for us.
We loved the pools on the edge here.
Drinking Ouzo. It was a fairly strong Anise (Licorice) flavored liquor.
John's ham sandwich
Janine's prosciutto sandwich - with humongous capers.
Better view of the buildings built inside the rock cliffs.
A Chinese restaurant
This cable car took people from the docks directly up to the town center
It was quite a view.
One of the people in the cable car with us was not happy with it swinging back and forth as I moved to take pictures.
You could save some money and walk down. It takes about 20 minutes but you also have to walk with the stinky donkey. You also have to avoid the donkey "presents".
If you decided to take the donkeys it is quicker then walking. Only problem is that they sometimes run you into the rock walls and scratch you up. Also you end up smelling like a donkey in the hot sun.
We were very glad to have decided to take the cable car.
The walking/donkey path.
Wooohooo
The houses looked like snow on the top of mountains.
A view of where the cable car heads down the mountain.
The tender service going from the dock to the ship.
