On the road again- NewZealand

NewZealand is such a beautiful place. We were enchanted with this land of immense and diverse landscape and had a grate time with our friends. Within a day or two’s drive we saw spectacular glaciers, picturesque fiords, rugged mountains, vast plains, rolling hillsides, subtropical forest, volcanic plateau, miles of coastline with gorgeous sandy beaches.

Santorini, Greece

Santorini (Greek: Σαντορίνη, also known as Thera (or Thira, Greek Θήρα [ˈθira]) is a volcanic island located in the southern Aegean Sea, about 200 km (120 mi) southeast from Greece's mainland. The name Santorini was given to it by the Latin Empire in the thirteenth century, and is a reference to Saint Irene. Before then it was known as Kallístē (Καλλίστη, "the most beautiful one"), (Στρογγύλη, "the circular one"), or Thēra. The name Thera was revived in the nineteenth century as the official name of the island and its main city, but the colloquial name Santorini is still in use.

According to the old legends, Ephesus was founded by the female warriors known as the Amazons. The name of the city is thought to have been derived from "APASAS", the name of a city in the "KINGDOM OF ARZAWA" meaning the "city of the Mother Goddess".In 281 B.C. the city was re-founded under the old name of Ephesus and became one of the most important of the commercial ports in the Mediterranean.

Haridwara and Rishikesh

214 km northeast of Delhi, Haridwar is situated on a 3 km stretch of the banks of the Ganges River in the foothills of the Shivaliks. According to Hindu scriptures, Haridwar is one among the four sites where drops of the elixir of immortality, Amrit, accidentally spilled over from the pitcher, in which it was being carried away by the celestial bird Garuda, after the Samudra manthan. Rishikesh is located around 25 kilometres away from Haridwar.

	"You sometimes see an adult killdeer suddenly develop a broken wing. It struggles in front of you, as if it can barely walk, let alone fly. Struggling to keep its balance, it manages to stay one step ahead, & leads you farther and farther away from its four downy killdeer babies crouching on the ground or half hidden under a tiny bush. When the killdeer feels that the young are safe from you, its broken wing heals suddenly, and the bird flies away, calling a loud "KILL-DEE" that sounds like a jeer." leela baikadi
