HOTEL OLINDA

The Hotel Olinda ensemble was originally designed for Darren Hanault Interior Design as an extension of Iris� successful Olinda line. Hotel Olinda is vast. Its mere presence generates the perception that more exists than that which is immediately obvious. It represents the pinnacle of evolving modern techniques to replace materials and create a lighter form of art. Playing on the concept of illusion, the Hotel Olinda adds new character and depth to each individual space. By combining the design of traditional chandeliers with the postmodern statement of urban cubes, floor sconces, or wall pieces, Hotel Olinda espouses the belief that an image of an object is more meaningful than the object itself.

MITAD DEL MUNDO

Mitad Del Mundo means "the middle of the world" in Spanish, and refers to the location that marks where the equator passes in Quito, Ecuador. The equator is more than a simple geographical border: it has social and political consequences as well, and these evocative differences between the hemispheres are reflected in the piece. Mitad Del Mundo both conforms to and breaks down the traditional concept of a border. Despite its appearance as a solid barrier, it is also open and fluid, allowing communication and light to pass through its gaps. The real innovation of Mitad Del Mundo is its striking interference pattern. Viewed while in motion, the linear circles appear to be moving themselves, creating an exciting visual focal point in this striking work of art.

ISLAS GALAPAGOS PURPLE/TURQUISE

Inspired by the wondrous natural features of the Galapagos Islands, Iris has created a spectacular line of chandeliers that cascade with the pulsating life-force of butterflies. Each creation is crafted from more than 400 individually handmade glass pieces, representing icons of life and growth. This original combination of art and industry draws nature into the urban space, and the artificial representation of nature symbolises the distance we, as urban creatures, have from its true self. The development of the Islas Galapagos series took over a year, as Iris experimented with utilising high-quality fused glass that plays with light in unique forms, resembling the sunrise as viewed from the Galapagos Islands themselves. Elements of the hidden world evolve into a masterpiece that thrums with an internal essence, and brings forth light into even the darkest corner.

Brazils "capital of happiness" was the inspiration for Iris Salvador Da Bahia lamp, which bursts with all the colours of the rainbow. Radiating rambunctious fun and bright energy, Salvador incorporates an RGB LED system that throws light against the ceiling in the form of a mesmerising rainbow. The design echoes the form of a bird, speaking the language of freedom, choice, independence, and self expression.
