One of the photos I used for reference.
The block-in in burnt sienna/alizarin crimson washes
Lifting out the lights and indicating some shapes.
Beginning with the darkest darks
Blocking for the shadowed areas
Continuing with shadows
Blocking in the shadowed size of the blooms and the cool greens along with a few warms
A wipe-off. Felt greens were wrong
Re-structuring cool greens
Re-structuring darkesk greens
Developing greens in shadow and in light. Begin adding warms to irises.
Adding lights to irises
Adding buds. Here I scratched in my signature so that I could get it in before the bottom area had dried. I prefer to scratch in my signature, though I don't always remember to early enough.
Beginning refinement
Heading toward the finish.
