Namaste' I honour the place in you in which the entire universe dwells. I honour the place in you which is of love, of truth, of light and of peace. When you are in that place in you and I am in that place in me, we are one.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Name Namaste came about as a result of the day I spent skating with Eric at dorney, it has a powerfull meaning and one which describes those times when you become one with your board, and the people you are skating with.
Before I started the conversion: The Bozi Longboards deck in bright Orange shown below my LBL Walkabout to give a comparison. Thanks to Mog at Brixton Cycles for the donor deck ;-)
Bottom view of the Bozi deck , at first I did not want to cut it as I felt sorry for it, now I don't know why I hesitated.
Namaste' Home build, Big thanks go the Eric Lowell for inspiring me with his hybrid pumper, I was so impressed with Erics board I had to make one for myself. The Deck is from the chopped up Bozi Longboards deck which was bright orange the last time Mog saw it, I hope he approves when I take it to him for a look see.
Deck is a laminate of Birch and Oak? with a top and bottom laminate of Rock Maple. My first grip job and not bad me thinks? Thanks to Alec for the advice on Gripping. The shape of the deck is taken from the shape of my body board, though this deck tapers a lot more to the rear than my body board.
Profile, this will roll under my LBL Walkabout ;-) light camber, no concave.
Front profile, deck is just over 9" wide at front end.The front truck is a Bennett Vector 5.0, on an angled bracket made from mild steel, soon to be Aluminium. Rear truck is a Barry Brown model hand machined at work and home ;-)
O'tangs 83a with biltins (thank you Eric) ;-) about 20-23 degrees angled truck with kingpin mods by me. foot stop by Bennett Bushings ;-)
Front lightening holes in bracket, W/W/B bushing configuration.
My Rear.
Big Zigs 80a with reds, zero* kingpin angle when weighted
More of my rear.
rear quaters showing bushing stacks.
Rear truck, bushings are "Not Bushings" made by me, uber soft white rubber as there are two kingpins. still tweaking this.
Rear set up.
stainless steel hanger, mild steel hanger plate, grade 8.8 split axles. lightening hole in rear plate.
Top shot of rear truck.
Along the deck from the rear.
I am in love with my new board and I intend to become one with it at some point ;-)
Look at my Bottom! No Graphics Needed, IMHO ;-)
On the grass.
On the grass again.
Had enough of my Bottom yet ? Namaste'
