Just outside Grasmere
No cricket today - would've been perfect for it too
Just look at the colour of that sky!
Still outside Grasmere.
I think the clouds make a massive contribution to these pics
It was one of those days when you just kept clicking and clicking the camera shutter
What would you give to live here?
The buds were just beginning to burst on this tree
Here we've moved on to St Johns in the Vale - slightly off the beaten track
A seriously impressive crag
You have to admire the tenacity of these trees, clinging on for dear life!
Looking back towards the Grasmere road from St Johns in the Vale
They might look cuddly and content, but believe me - these sheep are HARD!
Honest!
More impressive craggy pics
Perhaps trying to get a bit too arty here
We spent quite a while at St Johns in the Vale
I was trying to capture the bright yellow of the gorse
Not sure if this is the latest effort, but there was a lot of coppicing, or pollarding going on
Another fantastic skyscape, above the crag
Another few days and that gorse will look incredible
The colour of the sky changed almost by the minute
It got a bit pale and insipid here
Gorse again
We'd found Castlerigg stone circle, but in the distance Judith spotted this track
Yes, this one
Yet more zoom applied, and you realise just what a climb this is
Castlerigg stone circle, near Keswick
Another shot at Castlerigg stone circle
The view was stunning, as was the day. I make no excuse for including all of these views
Just a little haze in the distance. It may have looked clearer earlier in the day
This was at the gate into the field at Castlerigg
The distance shot
A nice little framing pic
A little windswept?
Judith got some fabulous pictures that day
From Castlerigg it was just a short drive down down to Keswick and the Market
Very picturesque too!
Now I'm not sure if these pics have got out of sequence
You can imagine buzzards or eagles flying from this crag
We didn't see any on the day, but I bet they're there!
I suspect this is Derwent Water
In the immortal words of Monty Python - the mighty larch!
What's she spotted?
Ah!
I was obsessed with this crag!
My dream machine, taken at Honister slate mine
The view over the fells from above Honister
Very moody, despite the previously sunny weather
Heading down Honister pass - except this is looking back up!
Can you imagine scree running on this lot?!
Crystal clear water
Looking down Honister pass
Judith contemplating running up the scree
Glacial, I'm told
Buttermere
I'm not sure what this is, but I'm sure Julia Bradbury's walked up it!
Taken from just above Aira Force - there's a thriving population of red squirrels there
Looking back to Brother Water from Kirkstone Pass
By this time the haze had really taken hold
This was a very long telephoto - we assume it is the gondola on Derwent Water
And just a few pics taken near Old Town, Kirkby Lonsdale on our way home
A bit of arty-farty “soft focus”
The sun was going down over the hills
Long telephoto - the available light was running out fast too
This little chap hurtled down the hillside to meet us
Very long telephoto in fading light
Ingleborough from near Old Town
And then the light finally went
