"Well, I remember turning on the setting allowing it to "recognize" me in my friends' (and only my friends') photos, because I was curious how it would work, so while remarkable, it wasn't surprising.

So far as the scary factor... I actually don't know whether to assume that Google's face-recognition tech is better or worse than what the government must already be running in airports. :-/"
