Not sure what I did wrong, but no matter how hard I tried to place the first board exactly in the middle and square, by the time I got to the outer boards, they were crooked. After a while I finally gave up and sanded the entire side down until it was flat and somewhat square looking.
Still before everything is even nailed in.
Those outer 2x4's are a little thinner than the middle ones as a result of all that sanding, but after a week even I couldn't tell.
Minwax special walnut stain (2 coats) followed by a Laquer finish (2 coats on everything, and then another 3 coats on the table top)
Airing out. Still smelled like lacquer for about a week.
Finished!
The wood putty covering the screw hold almost looks like a knot. You have to be looking for it to even find it.
