Prin Reunion and trip back to Houston

Alex got to see Principia College. It was a fabulous day showing him higher education. He had great questions... he started the day with, "You mean, when you go to college you don't live with your mom and dad?" He ended the day with, "So, what are the pros and cons of a liberal arts education vs. an engineering degree?"

With 1 day left in Paris before we flew home, we saw the Eiffel Tour. IT was beautiful. At the top was a diorama of Edison giving Eiffel a phonograph (both 1889 World Fair expos).

11 Trip to Mont St Michel

This old abbey started in 911AD, and has been continually built and extended. It was great to see the architectural styles next to each other with a guide who was fantastically knowledgeable about the whole mont.

10 Conference and more exploring

Becky attended some of the talks, and then we went through the Hotel de Ville (the Home of the City -- City Hall), which is now a museum of the maritime conquests of the area. Since it was a privateering (legalized pirating) city, there is great booty to show.

Arc de Triumph with Algerian win

The Algerians has just won their World Cup match (or so we thought. ... turns out it was just a tie). The Algerians were going ballistic up and down the Champs d'elysees. Guards in riot gear were honestly every 5 feet, for several blocks. The Arc de Triomphe seemed to be the epicenter. It was a festive night.

A new find in Paris, under Norte Dame they have excavated the Roman and Greek ruins of earlier civilizations. They have computer renderings of what they imagine the city to have looked like Before Christ.

Day 1 before John arrived. Becky saw the Musee' Rodin.

They had the Thinker right where he was supposed to be... out in the gardens. Beautiful grounds for the bronze pieces. The marbles were indoors. But the KISS was up against a wall. I could barely walk around it entirely. That brazen kiss needs to be out in the middle of the room where someone can get a great look at those back muscles!
