The bell and drum towers used to be the central clock of the whole city since Yuan Dynasty. They marked the north end of the axis of old Beijing. But there seems no end of the axis now, which reaches as far as to the Olympic zone...

Guo Zi Jian was the Imperial College since the 13th centrury. Located next to Confucious Temple, both can be found on Cheng Xian Street (achieving the virtue). Also include the hutongs nearby.

胡同你早-最美的中学 Good morning Hutong Beijing-the most beautiful middle school

The most beautiful middle school of Beijing is not in downtown, but hidden in the suburb. Its name: Lu He Middle School, built in 1867 by American Congregational Church. It occupies 230,000 sm of area, owns 9 buildings, a beautiful lake and woods, a library, 2 playgrounds and a gym, as well as 3 dining halls. No other middle school in Beijing matches it in size and charm.

胡同你早-北京站一带 Good Morning Hutong Beijing- the Railway Station area

Autumn comes and I have been walking Beijing Hutongs for the last 2 weeks, from 7:30 in the morning to noon. The experiences and feelings are intensive and awesome, and I come to realize that I have been a total stranger to the city I dwelled for the last 15 years. Basically I divide the walkable area of the old Beijing into 10-15 major blocks and just take a little bite each day by walking one block/area only. The album is more like a photo journal than anything. Most of the time the captions talk more than the photo itself.

段祺瑞府 Duanqirui Government Building

This maginificent building was built in 1906; used to be the army and navy building of the Qing Dynasty, later the government building of the once President Duanqirui. Has turned into a dormitary of a research institute after 1949. Huge waste.

长白山天池 Heaven Lake, Changbai Mountain

After driving 800kms and climbed up 1200 steps, all I saw was gloomy fog and a bunch of people taking photos with the wooden sign of "Heaven Lake"-- a scenery that is so Chinese that I can only be proud of. Next time will definitely try to take some funnier ones.

70% me +30% photographer efforts to make me look whiter, slimmer, and less wrinkled. 3 hours of modeling for these was such a hard time...finally pick out 10% of all, the rest are bloody failures.
