Yup, our numbers are upside down as usual.
Bernard: We were orange first.
Boredom at the start line.
Wait a sec: the Beverly 4s have team Cannondales?!
Just one last race before tackling the glacier.
Let's see... victory arms or victory guns?
Note how Liam doesn't have to look down in order to clip in...
Real Team Get a Grip kit?
xXx moves to dominate the race from the outset.
Beverly is pretty organized too.
The junior moves to second wheel to put the hurt on the field.
Brake, brake, brake brake. Sigh.
The lines for turn one evolved over the course of the one hour race.
As xXx moved its sprinters to the back, Dan moved Liam up, right behind the Beverly guys.
Turn one, getting better.
The race settled in, and the boys moved back in the pack to relax. Claus flats in the previous lap.
A small break gets 10 seconds on the field, and there goes Dan to chase it down, Liam in tow. Notice Claus blocking!
The break is reeled in, but another attack is about to occur.
xXx: you call this a draft? Seriously?
Dan covers yet another break. Superdomestique formidable!
Liam and Dan are briefly separated as the field considers what to do about the break.
This is the second pack. Despite valiant efforts, it was not able to bring in the first pack.
There goes Loren. He'll end up towing, then dropping, the second pack.
Time to get serious: the break is now under 15 seconds, and xXx is working hard.
Meanwhile Liam is waking up.
What's this? The junior has taken Bernard's spot!
Team TATI lines it up for the final laps.
The Claus on his Zipp-equipped cx, behind a Flatlandia rider also on a cross bike.
The boys are still together 1-2-3.
Get a Grip winds it up, bringing the break to within 10 seconds, and Dan moves up again.
With one lap to go, the pace has put the hurt on the main field. But not Liam.
Liam takes the field sprint by 2.5x bike lengths, sitting up, hands on the hoods.
The package safely delivered, Dan can finally relax as he coasts into the finish.
LAMM CLAUS ATTACK!
Yeah, that's a wool jersey on top of the podium. How often does that happen these days?
Liam and his groupies.
Actually, the girls are thinking about how much faster they'll be in a few short weeks.
Bernard: You want a piece of this, Beverly? Because I'll cut you.
Guess the European.
After a van ride with the TATI juniors, I hope Carly's giant mug contains a little more than just coffee.
Where's Jesse?
