Arashiyama Park...so beautiful!
Gorgeous views.
I hiked up a random trail before realizing it was going nowhere, turned around, and slipped and fell in the mud.
I did find the bamboo forrest though!
Tombs.
On the way up to the monkey park!!!! The biggest reason I went there!!!
I totally disobeyed the brochures orders and took pictures on the way
It was seriously such a hike. My feet still hurt.
First monkey sighting!!! Like the deer I got so excited!!!
I watched him bathe
and wanted to hug him...but didn't dare to look him in the eye.
SO CUTE
Monkeys in the trees, shaking branches and yelling at me.
Monkey in action.
Ancient monkey
Picking his fleas?
Passed out monkey.
View from the top.
Dorkiest picture ever of me.
Baby monkey!!!
I was obsessed with this little baby monkey.
He kinda looks like a telatubby.
He kept swinging, looking at me, then running back to his mother. Repeat cycle.
So sweet.
I love this picture.
This monkey was so hilarious.
He was trying to hide under the mat or something.
So cute to watch.
I had to feed them inside through the fence. Understandable after watching them fight over the food.
They were like little beggars. Hanging there quietly with their paws out waiting.
But if another monkey got in too close they'd start screaming at eachother lol.
They were so greedy!
So cute
View on the way down.
I made it down the hard part.
Moss was on everything.
The steam from the rain just looked so cool on the mountains.
Back in Kyoto now at Sekiho-ji Temple, which has over 500 carved Buddha statues. But kind of anti climatic...especially the workout it required to find it.
Still kind of cool I guess. I just expected more.
Buddha and his disciples.
This is the most worthwhile shrine in Japan, I think.
Fushimi Inari Shrine, or the 1000 Gates Shrine as we, foreigners, call it.
I'm pretty sure there are around 1000 gates!
Choose a path.
Very cool to walk through though!
On the way back to my hostel to check out and go home, I finally saw a geisha. Terrible picture, but I felt very awkward snapping a picture in front of her so I tried to be discreet and wound up with this.
