Possum Rescue
This baby possum was rescued after its mother was hit by a car in Mandeville, LA, on April 24, 2007. We kept the baby inside and fed it kitten milk overnight, and placed mom in a pen with water and a blanket. The next morning, another baby was nursing in the pen. Evidently it had been hiding in mom's pouch when we took them from the road. Mom, who seems to have a broken back, and both babies were delivered to a vet and then to a wildlife rescue center in Abita Springs midday on April 25.
