15 Feb 1955, Cascais, Portugal --- Royal Wedding in Portuguese Fishing Village. Cascais, Portugal: Here are four scenes during and immediately following the wedding on of Prince Alexander, son of exiled Prince Paul of Yugoslavia, and Princess Maria Pia, 20 year old daughter of ex-King Umberto of Italy. The marriage was performed in the tiny church of the Portuguese fishing village of Cascais. Six hundred aristocratic guests crowed into the little church which was built for 300. Other thousands jammed the village streets to see the wedding party. The simple ceremony performed by the parish priest took only seven minutes. No mass was celebrated because the bride is a Roman Catholic and the groom was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church. The royal newlyweds met and fell in love on a Greek cruise ship last year. Wedding scenes shows left: interior of church during ceremony. King Umberto, f --- Image by © Bettmann/CORBIS
