analogue photo-equipment with memories

These photo's taken and adpted all in today (4 Feb) after having planned this for so long. The best things come spontaneously it seems. The story behind this album is that the Agfa box and the spy-glasses belonged to my late father and I have always kept them safe. I even made some pic's in the eighties with the Agfa ut those were not sharp due to deterioration of the glue inbetween the lenses of the camera. I know my father got this camera for his wedding in 1952 and he made thousands and thousand of photo's with them some iwth amazing results! The Fuji is my final analogue camera and it served well (would still do) I was a great fan of Fuji-film because the colours were very natural where Agfa was reddish, Kodak yellow-ish and Konica blue-ish. Fuji was bright and sparkling colors, maybe that was also the reason for having bought a camera of the same brand!

Occasional I like to fool around with my pictures and trying nutty effects from Picasa to the extreme limit. Sometimes the effect is surprising, sometimes mind boggling! It depends on taste!

The hunt for mushrooms and other beautiful things

6 november 2011, Autumn blooming, everywhere lovely colors and mushrooms although very tiny sometimes! Had a hard time getting some macro-photo's, had almost to dig my camera in the soil to get the desired picture! Enjoy!! You're in the lucky position not to get the smell with the pictures!!! Those long white ones with the poison-green top are extremely stinky!!

Early Autumn Mushroom delight

In what is not our favorite forest (Lievensberg) we took the opportunity to have a group walk with a guide from the IVN to explore mushrooms. We learned that there's more than you at first expect, mushrooms the size of a pin's head to larger ones you can see in these pics. Just enjoy these beauties! We sure did!!

Sundown Kraaijenberg, last day of Summer

Clear weather and so a nice opportunity to catch sundown from the watchtower on "De Kraaijenberg"(Crowmountain) looking over het Zoommeer. Lovely colors and atmosphere, very tranquil, enchanting. Tha magic of nature! I've used tow different camera's here, my 'old' Samsumn S630 and my wife's Panasonic. Both having their pro's and con's

Beginning of Autumn/Dutch Indian Summer

In an attempt to find some mushrooms we went (for us) quite early into the forest. There was still dew on the leaves of plants and trees as the first picture macro-photo is showing. We did get lucky though although it is just the beginning of the season and mushrooms are rare and sometimes very tiny as amother picture will show you.

Roofvogels en uilen in het Markiezenhof

birds of prey and owls (owls of the night, dawn and day) giving their best show under guidance of Sjobbe and Eveline. The location is Het Markiezenhof in Bergen op Zoom, The French Garden (there's also an English-style garden) Roofvogels en uilen (van de nacht, dag en schemering) welke hun beste show geven onder leiding van Sjobbe en Eveline. De locatie is de Franse tuin (er is ook een tuin in Engelse stijl) van het Markiezenhof in Bergen op Zoom.

Twilight horses

Holiday time, normal activities like sport in the evening have come to a rest....time for some alternate activities like biking, partly through the forest. You can have unexpected encounters with some inhabitants of Zoomland like these horses. They jumped as much as I did but then they came close. I didn't expect them there because it very wet in that area, the most far East border of De Zeezuiper.

Kraaijenberg & verdronken land van het Markiezaat/Markiezaatsmeer

Again another report from this area that is showing how nature develops after it has been a salt water area and connected to the sea. Since decades this connection is gone and this is what have become of it...beautiful isn't it. I also made a 360 degree photoreport from the watchtower. In the West the Markiezaatsmeer In the South Belgium and the nuclear plant of Doel (cooling towers) In the West the visitor's centre of De Kraaienberg (crowmountain) and in the North, behind the leaves, the city of Bergen op Zoom

unexepected end of the life of a beech-tree

We received message that a beech-tree had come down and we decided to go for a view almost immediatly. It wasn't a happy sight though because this was a rather some older tree and on a spot where we had passed (really!) the day before this happened. This tree was very close (about 25 meters) from the shore of "De Zeezuiper", the swamplike area of the estate of Zoomland in the North-East direction. I tried to cover the sight from every angle and it shows what a gap is actually left when such a tree comes to the ending of its life. A bit of a depressing feeling but it belongs to the life of every forest.

Lievensberg estate/path of the bare-feet

The council of Bergen op Zoom created in 2010 a route through the estate of Lievensberg that can be walked on bare feet. The idea behind it is that people can have a little bit more connection with nature when you can actually feel it. This morning I walked it for a second time, now in the morning and the atmosphere was a bit awaiting. It was a nice tranquil 2½ kilometres walk, a little bit chilly at first but once on tempo no problem. Afterward I had a nice glowing feeling in my feet and haven't stepped in anything....you can check out the sandy but undamaged feet here! PS They don't smell ;-) In weeks afterward I walked this path several times on different parts of the day (morning, afternoon and early evening) and on 3 September I made some extra snapshots that I've added to this earlier presentation. Very beautiful because the heath is blossoming giving a very warm colouring in combination with the low late summer sun above it!

Macro with an unfamiliar camera ;-)

Because the weather is bad this holiday it is a good time to try things like using my wife's Panasonic Lumix camera. I'm trying what this camera can do what my Samsung can't. I'm coming to the end of possibilities with my dear Samsung.....time to move further on????? Time will tell....

Kraaijenberg and Markiezaatsmeer/Blaffert

Again we went for another but much shorter visit to the border of what was the "Schelde" now "Markiezaatsmeer" and the birdwatchcabin (2 and a half kilometres from the "Kraaijenberg"and it's look-ou tower. No big animals this time, just tiny but as beautiful!

Zoomland 15072011

Na de zware regenval op de 14e dan toch maar even kort het bos in om te bezien of deze regen iets heeft betekent voor de drrogte in Zoomland en het was lekker vochtig al is het waterniveau nog niet op peil. Op mijn vaste ijkpunt staat nu water en dat is goed!

On one of my my very rare solo trips on bicycle I returned home by biking through Zoomland which is a shortcut and made these lovely shots at twilight. The forest lives around this time, you can see hares hopping through the grass and the sound of birds is almost deafening!

Mattemburgh, park 19122010

On such a rare early Dutch winter we had a pile of snow in our area. In thinking about a location where we could go to make pho'to's of virgin snow we decided to go Mattemburgh, an estate lying inbetween Bergen op Zoom and Hoogerheide. In the winter it is only a few hours open for members of Brabants Landschap. Hoping you will agree it was worth it to plough on bike through the snow to make these pictures. Atr the location itself the snow was ankle-deep, say 20-25 centimeters and that is much to Dutch standards! Enjoy!
