The swarm in shrubbery in an office complex parking lot
The swarm is on several branches
I set up a sheet and slid the box on top of the juniper bushes to put the container under the swarm.
I shook the biggest part of the swarm into the box first, surmising that the queen was probably there.
Bees everywhere
Now I shook the rest of the branches
Bees to box, bees to box, bees to box
They're crawling around this new location
Piles of bees in the box
I closed the top of the box leaving an opening and leaving one side as a ramp for the bees to climb up to the queen.
There are still bees in the juniper bushes
See the parking lot!
Bees start to go down into the box after about 20 minutes
Bee signaling with nasonov
The box sitting on its future home
Empty hive box funnel to pour the bees through
The track of bees to the hole in the inner cover is a pretty good indicator that the queen is inside - they all want to get there
Bees orienting
Boardman feeder so I can see how much they take in
If it stays for a week, I'll give it a name
