The Start of School 2011

This year Katie headed off to 1st grade and Kallie started preschool. They were both very excited. Katie started on the 22nd and Kallie on the 23rd.

Last day of Summer-Trip to Lakeside

For our last day of summer Aaron and I took the girls to Lakeside amusement park. Kallie absolutely loved it, Katie wasn't too sure. We've discovered that Kallie is our daredevil and willing to try anything. If I had let her she would have gone on the big roller coaster. Luckily Mommy is a little bit of a scardy cat.

100 Days of School - The 100 faces of Kindergarten

Katie's school celebrates the 100th day of school. As an assignment we were supposed to find 100 things and put them on a poster board. I decided that we would do pictures. So we did 100 faces of kindergarten. We didn't have quite enough pictures of Katie's classmates so I took some pictures of Katie making all different faces.

2010 New Years Eve

We celebrated New Years at my sister Tiffany's house. The girls had a blast playing with their cousins and hanging out with Grandma Joy and Aunt T. They loved toasting in the new year with sparkling apple juice and special glasses. Kallie was confused though and wanted to know why we never had any toast. :-)

2010 Christmas Byers Visit

This year just before Christmas Katie, Kallie and I went to spend a night in Byers. We had so much fun! We made ornaments and gingerbread houses and celebrated the wonderful holiday spirit.

It's become a tradition to decorate cookies at Gramma Peggy's for Christmas each year. All the younger cousins and some of the older ones get together and have fun decorating sugar cookies anyway they like.

2010 Parade of Lights

12-4-2010 We decided to brave the cold and go to the Parade of Lights this year. This was the first parade the girls had ever been too and they liked it, but it was a bit too cold. Tiffany, Craig and the kids joined us and we made a night of it with visiting the Capital and getting hot chocolate.

Kallie's eye emergency

11-2-2010 I knew it was just a matter of time before Kallie ended up in the ER. One evening while Aaron was out of town the girls and I decided to eat dinner by candlight. Kallie ended up tripping over her own feet and splitting the skin right outside her eye open. I wasn't sure whether or not to take her to the ER. We ended up going, but their was nothing they could do . With it being so close to her eye though I'm glad we went anyway.

Kallie's 3rd Birthday

Kallie's 3rd birthday started bright and early (even though it was a Sunday, why let Mommy sleep in right). The girls played dress up with some of the new stuff they got at their birthday party the night before. Then of course it was on to opening presents. Build a Bear was fun as we ran into an old friend. Joel Shumake (who I used to babysit many years ago) helped Kallie stuff her Kitty. She named her new friend Mousie.

Starting Kindergarten

Katie started Kindergarten this year. It is full day and Kallie and I are finding life strange with Katie gone so much. We had a back to school night a couple of nights before our first day to take all the school supplies in and meet her new teacher Mrs. Archer. Then VERY early the morning of August 23rd Katie went to her first day of Kindergarten.

Katie's 5th Birthday

I still can't believe she's 5. We had a great day. We went shopping to pick out a new outfit for kindergarten and then when Daddy got home she opened her presents. After that we of course went to Build-a-Bear for a new friend. Katie named her new dog Tessie.

Mutton Bustin'

Aaron found out that they had mutton bustin' at the fair and wanted the girls to try it out. Katie was a little apprehensive, but Kallie was all ready to try it out. Once Katie saw some of the other kids do it, she was excited. She hung on for a couple of seconds and did really well. Kallie was too young to actually ride so they had to pull her off before the sheep left the gate. She was not happy about that.

4th of July fun 2010

The girls enjoyed their 4th of July this year. We went to a party at a friends and even though it was raining and we didn't get to see any firewords they had a blast with sparklers. The day after we had some fireworks at home. Kallie of course was fearless.

June Adventures

This June Aaron was out of town for a couple of weeks. In order to keep us from getting to lonely Tiffany, Joe, Anthony, Ashley, Jason and Lexi came down and stayed with us. We decided to introduce the kids to roasting hot dogs and making smores. Joe and Anthony were the only ones who had ever done it. The younger ones fell in love with "burning" their dinner as Lexi likes to call it.

DAY TWO Sand Dunes National Park

After Bishop Castle we headed to the Sand Dunes. They are absolutly gorgeous! The girls loved playing in the sand, but they had more fun splashing through the creek.

DAY TWO Bishop Castle

The day after Colorado Springs we got back on the road and headed for Sand Dunes National Park. On the way we made a pit stop at Bishop Castle. One man has been building this castle by hand for years. It was worth seeing once, but never again. I'm pretty sure the only reason he built this castle was to lure people in so he could shout crazy ideas at them as they leave. He even has a high perch that he stands on to do it.

DAY ONE - Cave of the Winds

So we finally went on a family vacation. It took us awhile to work up the courage to take Kallie away from home. The first day we drove to Colorado Springs and hit the Cave Of The Winds. Very cool place and the girls liked it. We went with Aaron's friend and co-worker Derrick, his wife Linda and their daughter Courtney.

DAY ONE - Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

The second half of our first day we went to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. It was FANTASTIC. We got to feed giraffes and the girls took their first pony ride. After the zoo we went to the hotel and took the girls swimming in the pool. They absolutely loved it and now are begging me to take them swimming every day.

2010 Mothers day zoo trip

To celebrateMother's Day and Mom's birthday we all met at the zoo. Mom's favorite animal is the giraffe and we spent a lot of time there. It helped that they had a baby that was adorable. All the kids had a blast and were fully exhausted by the time we left.

Gardens

This spring and summer I have been working hard at gardening. Aaron and I built two raised garden beds and planted our first garden. I have tomatoes, cucumbers, peas and beans along with some flowers. I have also worked on the front garden to try to grow more flowers. It's been hard work and I don't as yet have a bumper crop, but it's been fun.

Christmas eve 09

Our tradition for Christmas Eve is to spend it at Aaron's parents house. We open all of the presents under the tree and then we sleep there and wait for Santa to come and fill the tree back up.
