The white marks visible on the shell are as a result of a bacterium present in human skin. When people touch turtles, they get infected and their shells begin to dissolve.

Bumpe Headed Parrot Fish
They came out of nowhere and like a swarm of locusts destroyed all that stood in their path. We lost many good divers that day...
See those fish attached onto the shell? They do it for saftey and for a ree ride. And it bloody well hurts when they try and do it to my thigh!
