Nearly to Lower Bertha falls. This is a small series of waterfalls a hundred meters or so below the big one.
Davis Bigelow standing at the base of a smaller waterfall just below Lower Bertha Falls. Pretty slick rocks!
Bridge crossing Lower Bertha Falls (in the background). If you look at the album "Snowshoeing Up A Storm", you can see this same shot in winter. (without the people of course)
Yellow flowers along Upper Bertha Falls trail. They kind of look like columbines to me.
Red flowers along Upper Bertha Falls trail. They look like bleeding hearts.
White flower along Upper Bertha Falls trail.

Bertha Lake - looking south west. On the slopes you can see glacier remnants still lingering in the hot summer's day that it was.
Bertha Lake - looking south along the brief river leading to the Upper Falls. The bridge is pretty unique too.
Hosta leaves in the sun at Bertha Lake.
Triple waterfalls above the west side of the north end of the Bertha Lake.
Triple waterfalls above the west side of the north end of the Bertha Lake. Check out the Mule deer buck enjoying the photo op.
I stalked closer to the deer. Not bad for a 4x zoom lens! A Mule deer in the velvet. (His antlers are still soft and growing. Who knows how big they got before they were done?)
After seeing the deer up close and personal, I ventured south-west along the shores of Bertha Lake. A 4km trail circumnavigates the lake, but there was too much snow on the eastern side for me to use it. This photo is of a rock wall with a giant woolly marmot living in it. Sadly, the marmot was not as brave as the deer.
Nearly to the south end of the Bertha Lake looking north-east. This shot is nearly an opposite view of the high angle photo of the lake from the other end. The next shot is from the same spot, but facing the opposite way.
A spectacular waterfall at the extreme south end of Bertha Lake. I'm definitely going in for a closer look!

A flower in full bloom along Bertha Lake. A fitting closing shot for an incredible hike.
