CRI's First Annual "Treasure On The Charles" Yard Sale May 2009 Located at Daly Ice Rink.

Pictures show the set-up day and night of Friday 05/29/09, the event on Saturday 05/30/09, and the clean-up after the event from 4:15 - 6:30 p.m. The rink was left in cleaner condition in which we found it. Many thanks to Liam (Newton Country Day / Daly Ice Rink workaholic) and all CRI volunteers. This was an exhausting, labor-intensive fund raiser for-sure.

04/28/2009: sweep equipment OUT of HPB (Harry Parker Boathouse) to repair boat bay floor.

Tuesday, April 28,2009: all sweep boats, oars, boat covers, slings, and most of the boat rack arms had to be removed from the Harry Parker Boathouse storage bay and placed outside to begin the removal of existing cement floor (with its "curved floor" and replaced with a flat floor. Work should be completed by 05/02/09.

North-side "oar doors" getting installed 02/27/09

The long-awaited installation of 3 super-tall "oar doors" begin the installation process on February 27, 2009. These doors are adjacent to the oar racks and are about 14 feet tall to accomodate the sweep oars coming and going into the boathouse.

Made of aluminum, the large letters on the street side of CRI's new boathouse boldly spells-out C-O-M-M-U-N-I-T-Y R-O-W-I-N-G in huge aluminum letters.

Thursday, 100908 & Friday 101008 sweep racks arrive & are installed

These are the best boat racks available on the market today. Good enough for Princeton University and the National Team Training Center, good enough for CRI for-sure. The racks glide in and out effortlessly. Boats stored on the floor will rest on wheeled dollies allowing them to slide under the boats resting on the lowest rack.

CRI begins its occupancy of Parker Boathouse, Monday, 10062008

Only 23 years after its founding, record-time for most rowing clubs, CRI is officially begins operating out of its new boathouse on Monday, October 6, 2008, making full use of its workout areas, meeting rooms, and administrative offices.

CRI moves into Parker Boathouse Saturday, October 4th, 2008

The ergs, which spent the entire season "under the big top" semi-protected inside 2 huge tents set-up adjacent to the soccer fields, were thoroughly cleaned by a number of CRI volunteers prior to shuttling them via the CRI pickup truck from the tent area to the new boathouse. Once at the front door of the boathouse, the wheels were meticulously cleaned, then the ergs were carried upstairs and placed into position best-suited for inflicting the pain for which they are designed.

CRI boathouse pictures 10.02.08 moving the offices into boathouse

No longer will CRI have to assemble-disassemble-assemble-disassemble its offices to move from the Daly Ice Rink to any other off-site office. It will be a real luxury for the administration and staff as well as the members to have a permanent home.

Walls and floors are nearly 100% free of construction debris and a certificate of occupancy was in-hand a few days ago according to a reliable source. Sweep equipment is scheduled to come inside the first floor equipment bay sometime this up-coming week. Many finishing touches occured since last week's photos including completion of the locker rooms, installation of coaches' lockers, and some flooring materials have been put into place.

Much of the progress this week appears to be in the addition of ceiling tiles, painting of many of the walls, addition of light switch plates and other wall plates, addition of emergency signage, and heating/air conditioning controls. The main "erg" room has much less clutter, and the smell of damp plaster that's in the process of drying as well as the odor of paint is everywhere.

Tuesday night, September 16th 2008, approximately 7:30 p.m., under the light of a full "Harvest" moon (and some newly-installed ceiling lights), members bring-in the first sculls into the new, Ruth Somerville Sculling Pavillion. A long-awaited event for CRI is realized. The formal boathouse dedication ceremony will be one month from today on October 16th, 2008.

Much progress has been made since my previous site visit. Project manager's office trailer has been removed and all workers' cars are off-site while driveways and walkways are being created and preliminary landscaping takes place. Final exterior panels are being installed, and the whole project looks more like its architectural depictions than ever before.

Drier weather than yesterday made installation of the unusual siding at CRI's new boathouse much more comfortable for the finish carpenters, even in the direct sunlight. Today's weather was clear, sunny, low humidity and the temperature was in the high 70s. Great working weather for the Consigli construction crew.

Some of the docks arrived late yesterday afternoon and, earlier today, were placed in the water for now, to be positioned in their final location at a later date. Also: more installation of the elaborate, exotic wood siding designed to give the illusion of water in motion.

Sweep equipment building has been wrapped with a Tyvek barrier to protect the workers from the wind. Looks interesting at night when the interior lights are on as they are in these photos.

These pictures were taken the day after Thanksgiving in 40-degree weather (day before had been 62-67 degrees). There was no 2nd floor platforming installed until this morning. These guys are really cranking out the 2nd floor in no time at all.

Thought there was some great morning light today (Sunday, 11/11/07) at approx. 7:30 a.m. but it was only 34 degrees outside. Framework of sculling pavillion is well underway. Sweep pavillion has its floor down and plumbing/electrical conduits in-place.
